Digital signage should take the manual work out of your day, not add friction. For years, the most consistent feedback from our community was that the Xibo interface, while incredibly powerful, was starting to show its age.
We heard you. Xibo CMS v4.5 is our answer. We completely rebuilt the CMS front end on a modern foundation, delivering a cleaner, faster, and significantly more intuitive experience across the areas you rely on most: media management, scheduling, reporting, and navigation.
We designed version 4.5 to deliver immediate quality-of-life improvements without disrupting your existing workflows. Here is a summary of the key benefits:
A fully Refreshed, Mobile-Friendly Interface: Built on a modern framework, the CMS features a consistent, highly responsive design, allowing you to confidently manage your network from any mobile or tablet device.
Frictionless Background Media Uploads: No more waiting on loading screens. Drag and drop files directly into the page, and they will upload seamlessly in the background while you continue working.
Smarter Navigation & Organisation: We streamlined menus, introduced clear breadcrumbs for instant backward navigation, and reimagined our folder structure to make organising data simpler.
Enhanced Media Library Views: Instantly switch between views with a new top-right toggle, helping you locate and manage your media assets much faster.
Reimagined Reporting: We overhauled our reporting interface. The Time Connected report has been completely rebuilt to provide a clearer, filterable overview of your network’s health.
Streamlined Scheduling: Daily management is faster with intuitive tweaks. You can now easily expand each day in the calendar to see exactly what is showing, alongside a much simpler way to view your entire agenda at a glance.
While the CMS looks completely refreshed, the robust engine you rely on remains untouched. If you are upgrading from version 4.4, there is absolutely no learning curve. Everything you know still works exactly as it did. There are no new player app requirements, and your existing layouts, schedules, displays, and user permissions will all carry over flawlessly without modification. It simply looks and feels better. Because version 4.5 introduces a substantial visual change, we have disabled automatic upgrades so you can choose when your team sees the new interface.

What's new in Xibo CMS v4.5?
Xibo v4.5 rebuilds the CMS front end delivering a modernised, mobile-friendly interface. Key additions include background media uploads, clearer navigation with breadcrumbs, a reimagined folder structure, enhanced media library views, rebuilt reporting (including the Time Connected report), and faster scheduling such as right-click event deletion.
Do I need to relearn the platform after upgrading?
No. Everything works exactly as it did in v4.4 , the interface simply looks and feels better. There is no learning curve.
Will my existing layouts, schedules and displays still work?
Yes. Your layouts, schedules, displays and user permissions carry over without modification, and there are no new player app requirements.
How do I upgrade to Xibo CMS v4.5?
Automatic upgrades are disabled for this release so you choose when your team sees the new interface. Cloud-hosted customers upgrade manually via My Account; self-hosted customers update their docker-compose file to the release-4.5.0 tag and redeploy.
