2.1.0-beta Released
We are pleased to announce the release of our first beta for the 2.1 version of Xibo. The codename for this version is “Brooks”.
The 12P/Pons–Brooks comet was discovered 12 July 1812 and has an orbital period of 70.85 years. It will next be closest to Earth in 2024.
2.1.0-beta is a development preview only and should not be used in production. You can upgrade to this release from 1.8/2.0 series.
Main Focus
This release builds on the work completed in 2.1.0-alpha and 2.1.0-alpha2 further refining the new features that have been added. In addition we have:
- added new tagging capabilities for setting values along with tags
- added a migration task to convert existing statistics to the new model
- improve the navigation in the new reporting menus
- added a "distribution" report for analysing when certain Layouts/Media are played most often, by day of month, day of week and hour.
In total there are 18 resolved issues in this release, plus all updates from the 2.0.3 and upcoming 2.0.4 stable releases.
Migrating existing statistics
The alpha and alpha2 releases removed existing statistics and started collecting new ones in the new format.
This beta release will do more to preserve those statistics by renaming the stat
table to stat-archive
and then slowly migrating records over in the new format.
If MongoDB is configured then stats are migrated from stat
and stat_archive
into MongoDB.
Download
We're making this beta available for people to try using our recommended installation method, Docker. We will be providing release files for the stable 2.1.0 release for those of you running without Docker in due course.
- Xibo for Docker - Linux / Windows
- Xibo for Apache/Nginx / WAMP/IIS
Future development
Our immediate development work will be to prepare a 2.1.0 release candidate which will resolve any issues found with the beta release.
Beyond 2.1 we've begun developing 2.2, which will focus on improvements to the Scheduling capabilities of Xibo.
